Description

This pair of cast iron urns is located at the south end of Wentworth Woodhouse, on the west front, and dates from the early 19th century. They are garden ornaments made of cast iron, standing on square-sectioned ashlar plinths. Each urn is designed in the shape of a vase with a square base, featuring a fluted foot and a gadrooned bowl adorned with handles that emerge from the heads of satyrs. The neck of each vase is decorated with applied cast iron rosettes surrounded by foliage, and the flared rim has bead-moulding. These urns are included for their group value.
