Description

SK69SE BAWTRY WHARF STREET (north side) 10/47 Coach-house and stable immediately to rear of Grove House GV II Coach-house and stable. Early-mid C19. Red brick in English garden wall bond, graduated slate and pantile roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Central basket arch with 3 ashlar quoins in each jamb and 3 ashlar voussoirs to arch otherwise of brick; recessed within the arch is boarded double-door to central coach-house and panelled doors to stables on each side. Outer bays have projecting sills to part-slatted casements with glazing bars in recessed panels beneath segmental brick arches. lst floor: sill band links windows as ground floor but with later casements and enlarged bay-3 opening. Dentilled eaves to hipped roof having slated front slope but pantiles to sides and rear. Interior: coach-house has octagonal terracotta floor tiles; stables each have 2 stalls with round-arched feeding-rack recesses and divisions with octagonal newel posts.
