Description

The building is a coach house and stable located immediately behind Grove House, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick in English garden wall bond and features a roof made of graduated slate and pantiles. The structure has two storeys and three bays.

The central bay has a basket arch with three ashlar quoins on each side and three ashlar voussoirs forming the arch, while the rest is made of brick. Within the arch, there are boarded double doors leading to the central coach house, flanked by panelled doors for the stables on either side. The outer bays feature projecting sills with part-slatted casements that have glazing bars, set in recessed panels beneath segmental brick arches.

On the first floor, a sill band connects the windows, similar to those on the ground floor, although these have later casements and an enlarged opening for the third bay. The hipped roof has dentilled eaves, with the front slope covered in slate and the sides and rear in pantiles.

Inside, the coach house has an octagonal terracotta floor, while each stable contains two stalls with round-arched feeding-rack recesses and divisions marked by octagonal newel posts.
