Description
The Coach House and Stable to The Grove is a mid-19th century structure located in Hertford. It features a timber-framed design that is weatherboarded over a yellow stock brick base with a Flemish bond plinth, topped by a gabled roof covered in Welsh slate.
The building stands two storeys tall. On the first floor, there is a small 8-pane sash window with an architrave surround and a battened loft door to the right. The ground floor includes twin leaf battened doors fitted with wrought-iron strap hinges, above which is an 8-pane fixed fanlight.
Inside, the coach house has a pine boarded dado with zinc sheet, a brick floor, and a chamfered central softwood beam. The ground floor tack room features a cast-iron grate with a Gothick pattern. This building is an important part of the setting for Grove House.
