Description
Bank House is a building that has been converted from a house to offices, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of roughcast brick and features a Westmorland slate roof. The building stands three storeys tall with two bays and has a lower wing at the rear, with the entrance located on the right side.
The front façade includes a plinth and cemented quoins. On the ground floor, there are bow windows that each contain tripartite sashes with eight, twelve, and eight panes, separated by panelled mullions, and topped with a plain frieze and cornice. The first floor features a band and projecting sills supported by shaped blocks, with tripartite sashes of four, twelve, and four panes, also beneath plain friezes and cornices. The second floor has similar sills to tripartite sashes of two, six, and two panes. The eaves cornice is complemented by a blocking course, and the hipped roof has rendered stacks at the ends.
At the rear, the wing includes a canted two-storey bay window and a pedimented gable. On the right side, there is an original doorway that has a 20th-century door and fanlight with glazing bars, set within a panelled wooden doorcase featuring sunken spandrels and a cornice, along with a margin-glazed sash above.
