Description

Grove House and Grove Cottage are two dwellings, likely built around the late 17th century, with a significant refronting in the early 19th century. The building is cement rendered, with a Welsh slate and red tile roof. The main house is two storeys and four bays, with a parallel range at the rear and an extended wing to the rear left, which forms Grove Cottage. The front entrance is in the third bay, featuring a six-panel door with a fanlight containing ornamental glazing bars. The door is set within a wooden doorcase, which has reeded pilasters and carved consoles supporting an open pediment with mutules and dentils. The other ground floor bays have bow windows with projecting sills and reeded mullions dividing tripartite sash windows of 4, 12 and 4 panes. The first floor windows have projecting sills and sash windows with glazing bars set within flush wooden architraves. The building has an eaves cornice and a blocking course, along with old rainwater hoppers on the left and right returns. A projecting end stack on the left has a rendered shaft, and a ridge stack is located above the third bay. The interior has not been inspected. Grove Cottage, which occupies most of the rear wing, has no particularly notable external features.
