Description
Equity House is a late 18th-century building that now serves as a staff annexe to the Crown Hotel and as separate office premises. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a roof made of pantiles and Welsh slate. The building stands three storeys high and has five bays. At the base, there is a rendered plinth. The central doorway has been blocked and is set under a rubbed-brick flat arch, with 20th-century shop fronts and doors on either side. On the first floor, there is a string course, which is partly obscured, beneath sash windows with glazing bars set in reveals that have projecting stone sills and cambered rubbed-brick arches. The second floor features six-pane sashes in matching openings. The hipped roof has dentilled eaves and includes a rendered end stack on the left and a brick end stack on the right.
