Description
This is a milepost located approximately 30 metres to the north-east of Mile End Avenue, dating from the late 19th century. It was made by Brayshaw and Booth of Liversedge. The milepost is constructed from cast iron and is fixed on a stone pillar. It features angled sides and a sloping top plate beneath a round-headed panel. The raised lettering on the upper panel reads "DONCASTER & THORNE / ROAD / HATFIELD." The left side indicates "THORNE / 4 1/4 MILES / HATFIELD 1 MILE," while the right side states "DONCASTER / 6 MILES."
