Description

This milepost, dating from the late 19th century, is located opposite the junction with St. Mary's Street on the north side of Boston Spa High Street. It was made by Brayshaw and Booth of Liversedge and is constructed from cast iron, fixed onto a gritstone pillar. The milepost features angled sides and a sloping top plate beneath a round-headed panel. The raised lettering on the upper panel indicates "TADCASTER & OTLEY ROAD CLIFFORD CUM BOSTON." The left side shows "TADCASTER 4 MILES," while the right side displays "WETHERBY 3¼ MILES HAREWOOD 7 MILES OTLEY 15¼ MILES."
