Description

This is a milepost from the late 19th century, located on the south side of Otley Road in Pool. It is made of sandstone and features cast-iron facing plates. The milepost has a triangular shape and stands approximately 1 metre high. It has a flat-faced semicircular head and chamfered sides, which display raised lettering indicating distances to various locations: Tadcaster & Otley Road, Pool, Harewood (6 miles), Otley (2 1/4 miles), Wetherby (12 1/4 miles), Boston (13 miles), and Tadcaster (17 miles).
