Description

This is a milepost from the later 19th century, made of sandstone with cast-iron facing plates. It has a triangular shape and stands approximately 1 metre high. The milepost features a flat-faced semicircular head and chamfered sides, with raised lettering that indicates distances to various locations: Barnsdale, Leeds, Thorpe Audlin, Doncaster, Bordbridge (10 miles), Wetherby (21¾ miles), Leeds (17½ miles), Aberford (14½ miles), and Pontefract (4¼ miles).
