Description

This is a milepost from the late 19th century, made by Brayshaw and Booth of Liversedge. It is constructed from cast iron and is fixed on a gritstone pillar. The milepost features angled sides and a sloping top plate beneath a round-headed panel. The raised lettering on the upper panel reads "TADCASTER & OTLEY / ROAD / CLIFFORD / CUM / BOSTON." The left side indicates "TADCASTER / 5 MILES / BOSTON / 1 MILE," while the right side shows "WETHERBY / 2¼ MILES / HAREWOOD / 6 MILES / OTLEY / 14¼ MILES."
