Description

Clarendon Lodge and Lismore House are two adjoining houses that were originally built as one dwelling in the late 18th century and later enlarged in the early 19th century. They are constructed from coursed, squared magnesian limestone and feature stone slate and Welsh slate roofs. The buildings have an H-shaped plan, with two 2-storey, 3-bay houses connected by a wing.

Lismore House, which faces the road, has a central 6-panel door with a fanlight that has radial glazing bars, all set within a wooden porch supported by Doric columns and topped with a pediment. The porch cornice extends over the flanking 1-storey canted bay windows, which have projecting stone sills and sashes with 8, 12, and 8 panes, all beneath relieving arches. On the first floor, there is a central sash window with glazing bars and a projecting stone sill, flanked by tripartite sashes with 4, 12, and 4 panes in matching openings. The building features a moulded gutter and has a brick end stack on the right and a cement-rendered end stack on the left.

At the rear, which is the garden front of Clarendon Lodge, there is a 16-pane sash window flanked by French windows with overlights, beneath a sash window with glazing bars and two additional 16-pane sashes. The ends of the building have stacks and gable copings on the left side. The left return of the linking wing features a 6-panel door set in a fluted surround, topped by a bracketed cornice.
