Description
Westwood House is a house that has been converted into a veterinary surgery. It dates from the early to mid-19th century and is constructed of coursed, squared magnesian limestone with a graduated slate roof. The building has two storeys and three bays, along with a two-storey wing at the rear left. It features a plinth and has concreted steps leading up to a central six-panel door, which is topped by a plain overlight and set within a wooden doorcase that has a fluted frieze and a pediment supported by consoles.
The windows are 16-pane sashes with projecting stone sills, framed in flush wooden architraves and topped with three-piece wedge lintels. Below the wooden gutter, there is a fascia board with brackets and modillions. The end stacks are present, although the one on the left has been truncated. At the rear, there is a central part-glazed six-panel door, with a later French window to its left, as well as a round-headed stair window and additional sashes with glazing bars under flat arches.
Inside, the house features a contemporary staircase that includes a reeded newel post and square baluster rods leading up to a ramped handrail.
