Description
This is a terrace of three houses located on the south side of High Street in Boston Spa. The houses date from the early to mid-19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The facades are constructed of red brick in an English garden wall bond, topped by a pantile roof. The terrace is three storeys high and three bays wide.
Number 74, on the right-hand side, features a six-panel front door with a decorative overlight containing crossed glazing bars, recessed within a panelled wooden doorcase. A plain wooden entablature runs across the entire terrace. To the right of the door is a tripartite window with a projecting stone sill and sashes containing 4, 8, and 4 panes respectively. The first floor has a sash window with glazing bars, set beneath a flat brick arch and with a projecting stone sill. The second floor has a 16-pane sash in a similar opening. Number 76, on the left, is similarly styled. Number 78 retains the original doorcase and entablature, but has altered window openings on each floor. Brick end stacks are present, and a ridge stack sits between numbers 74 and 76. The group value of these buildings lies in their cohesive terrace design and contribution to the character of the High Street.
