Description

HATFIELD MANOR ROAD SE 6609 (SE 60 NE) (east side) 16/51 The Leylands No 31 GV II House. Mid C19. Cement rendered, Welsh slate roof, 2 storeys, 3 bays. Plinths Stone steps to central single-storey porch with corner pilasters, archivolt with lion's-head keystone and cornice with blocking course; inside, part-glazed door and fanlight beneath archivolt. Outer bays: stone steps to shallow single-storey projections having French windows with side and overlights beneath cornices. 1st floor central 4-pane sash flanked by tripartite sashes all with projecting sills and consoled cornices. Deep, boxed eaves projection with lion's-head emblems on the guttering. Hipped roof rising to stacks with plinths and bands at corners of glazed apex lantern. Rear: 4 bays; corniced doorcase to bay 2. Left return: 3 bays, later ground-floor casements. Right return: bays, door to bay 4.

Interior: contemporary details notably the galleried central stair hall having cantilevered staircase with good cast-iron balustrade of ornate splats interspersed with barleysugar balusters.
