Description

Lowfold and Lowfold Cottage is a house that has been divided into two dwellings. It dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century and was renovated and extended around 1980. The building is constructed from coursed rubble limestone and features a pantile roof. It has a U-shaped layout with 20th-century additions on the left side and at the rear, designed to blend in with the original structure.

Both dwellings are now accessed from the side elevations. The main front has large quoins and a glazed door located near the center. To the left of the door is a 2-light, double-chamfered mullioned window, and to the right is a 2-light casement window set in an altered surround with a deep lintel. There is a blocked quoined doorway to the right, with a 2-light casement window beyond it in its original surround. A French window is situated on the far left, accompanied by a 2-light mullioned window to its right. On the first floor, there is a 3-light window on the left with the right-hand light blocked. There are also two original 2-light windows near the center, a blocked single light to the right, and a 2-light window with the mullion removed on the far right. The roof is hipped and has two brick ridge stacks.

On the right side, there is a later porch, and original 2-light windows are present on each floor to the left, although these do not have mullions.
