Description

Ivy Cottage is a house dating from the early 17th century, which was restored in 1898. It is constructed of rubble limestone with ashlar on the right return and rear, topped by a Welsh slate roof. The building has two storeys and features five windows on the first floor, along with a single-storey wing to the left of the entrance front. There is a low addition on the left return and large quoins at the corners.

The entrance includes a four-panel door located to the right of centre, which has initials and the restoration date inscribed on the lintel. Flanking the door are two-light mullioned windows with recessed, chamfered surrounds dating from the 19th century, and there is an old blocked window to the right of the door. To the far left, there is a door with a restored two-light window above it. The first floor features a mix of two-light, three-light, and four-light windows, including one two-light surround that is now blocked. The roof has shaped kneelers and gable copings, with a renewed brick stack at the right end and a matching ridge stack to the left of centre.

The rear of the building has an ashlar facade with a chamfered plinth and the position of a Tudor-arched door below the ridge stack. There are remains of double-chamfered windows that have been altered or blocked. Notably, the use of ashlar is uncommon in the vernacular architecture of the village.
