Description

Wheatcroft House is a house that was originally two cottages, dating from the 17th century with extensive alterations in the 19th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble, partly rough-cast, and has a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and features three windows on the first floor. It has large quoins and a blocked 17th-century doorway to the right of the center, which has chamfered quoins. To the far right, there is an old door with a wooden lintel and an unequally-hung 9-pane sash window to its left. To the left of this door, there is a more recent panelled door with a 16-pane sash window to its right. On the left side of the first floor, there are two 16-pane sashes with a blocked double-chamfered light above the position of the 17th-century door. To the right on the first floor, there is a 3-light horizontally-sliding sash in a double-chamfered opening with a lowered sill. The left side of the building has a shaped kneeler and gable copings, with a small end stack to the left and a larger brick ridge stack above the position of the 17th-century door. The left return features two inserted casements on the ground floor and a blocked 2-light window above.
