Description

The Old Forge is a smithy built in the late 18th to early 19th century. It features rubble limestone construction and has stone slate eaves courses leading to a pantile roof. The building is single-storey and consists of two cells. On the left side, there is a quoined entrance to the shoeing bay, which has a wooden lintel. The workshop on the right includes a casement window with glazing bars, also beneath a wooden lintel. There is a brick stack at the end on the right and a ridge stack located on the partition wall.

Inside, the workshop remains unimproved and contains a brick hearth at each end. The Old Forge is included in the listing for its group value.
