Description
The barn range attached to Gunthwaite Gate Farmhouse is a Grade II listed structure. The main barn dates from the late 18th century, while the section to the left is slightly older, and the stable range, which is positioned at a right angle, is from the 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed rubble and features a stone slate roof.
The main barn consists of five internal bays and has a large near-central cart entrance with a quoined surround. The left section has entrances on both floors, with the first-floor entrance accessed by an external stone stair. The stable range has three entrances. At the rear, there is a cart entry that mirrors the one at the front. Inside, the main barn features four sawn softwood king-post trusses with struts. This barn range is included for its group value with the farmhouse.
