Description
Gunthwaite Hall (part to west) is a farmhouse with origins in the 17th century, predominantly dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed, squared rubble with a stone slate roof and has an L-shaped plan. The building is two storeys high, with a symmetrical entrance front featuring three bays. The central entrance consists of a four-panel door with an overlight, set within a large quoined surround. The windows are four-pane sashes in plain surrounds, and the roof is hipped with a later brick stack positioned to the right.
At the rear, the projecting wing on the left has a two-storey bow that includes a Venetian window with glazing bars on the ground floor and a plain casement window on the first floor. To the right of the bow, there is an entrance with a quoined ovolo-moulded surround, and above it on the first floor is a two-light double-chamfered mullion window. The rear wall of the main house features two bays of large sashes, with a 16-pane window on the ground floor and a 12-pane window on the first floor. The house is connected to the west part by a single-storey link block.
