Description
Rock House is a small detached house dated 1684, constructed from thinly coursed dry-walled rubble with quoins and a stone slate roof. The right gable features hollow chamfered coping supported by moulded kneelers, while there is a rendered stack on the left gable. The house has two storeys, with an entrance on the left that is partially blocked, featuring quoins and a very deep lintel inscribed with 'IG 1684 IL'. A hood mould over the entrance extends to the right as a drip mould over the ground floor. The ground floor has a 5-light double chamfered window, and there is a 3-light double chamfered window on the first floor, with a late 18th-century window to its left. The right gable has a later entrance and a 3-light double chamfered window on the first floor, alongside a blocked 2-light window from the 19th century. At the apex of the gable, there is a dovecote with saw-tooth corbelling. A continuous outshut at the rear is of similar date, and the left gable is rendered.
