Description

28 Monkgate is a shop and flat built around 1840, with some later alterations. The building is constructed of brick and features a hipped pantiled roof. It stands three storeys high and has one bay. The upper storey windows are sash windows without glazing bars, adorned with rusticated stone lintels that have keystones and segmental soffits. The ground floor showcases a timber shopfront that includes a timber fascia and cornice, which extends above a doorway located to the right. The shop window is flanked by pilasters, while the doorway is accompanied by engaged reeded columns. The gutter is supported by paired rectangular brackets. The interior has not been inspected.
