Description
19 and 21 Monkgate are two houses that have been converted into flats, dated 1812 and extensively restored in 1984. They are constructed of brick and topped with a slate roof. The exterior features three storeys and four bays. The windows are glazing bar sashes, with the first and second floor windows in the two left-hand bays having rubbed brick flat arches. The windows in the two right-hand bays are slightly lower and have segmental brick heads. On the ground floor, the third bay contains a carriageway with an elliptical brick arch. The doorway, located between the first and second bays, features a plain pilaster doorcase with panelled reveals, a divided rectangular overlight, and a door with six raised and fielded panels. The gutter cornice is decorated with dentils and modillions. Between the second and third bays, there is a lead rainwater hopper inscribed 'TS 1812'. The building has gable chimneys. The interior has not been inspected.
