Description
This is a house dating from 1796-8, with evidence of earlier fabric. It is constructed of brick in Flemish bond, and has a pantiled roof. The house is three storeys high and has three bays. A first-floor sill band and a modillion cornice gutter run along the exterior. On the left-hand side, the earlier carriage entrance is still visible, featuring an elliptical brick archway. To the left of this is a blind window with a projecting sill and a flat brick arch. The right-hand window on the ground floor is a tripartite sash with glazing bars, also with a flat brick arch. The upper-floor windows on the outer bays are similar. The windows in the central bay, which contains the front door, are glazing bar sashes with flat brick arches. The doorway itself has a semicircular brick arch, a recessed door with six raised and fielded panels, a fanlight, panelled reveals, and recessed stone steps. A lead hopper and downpipe are located to the left of the middle windows. Chimneys are positioned on the left and right. The Royal Commission on Historical Monuments records that the interior contains an original staircase and a single original fireplace on the first floor.
