Description
1 and 2 Colliergate is a shop building located in York, dating from the late 19th century but with earlier origins. The exterior is made of painted brick and features a timber shopfront with a modillion eaves cornice that returns at the right end. The roof is covered with pantiles and tiles, topped with a brick stack.
The building has a two-storey, three-window front. The shopfront includes plain pilasters, a frieze, and a moulded dentilled cornice supported by grooved brackets. It has plate glass windows above plain risers and a three-quarter glazed door with a blocked overlight. The first-floor windows are four-pane sashes, paired at the right end, and have painted sills. A fluted rainwater head is present.
On the right return, the building is two storeys high with two windows. The shopfront continues to the left of the glazed door, which is accompanied by a one-pane window beneath a continuous lintel. The first-floor windows here are also four-pane sashes with painted sills. The interior has not been inspected.
