Description
23 Parliament Street is a house that has been converted into offices. It was built around 1797 and has undergone some alterations in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed of brick with a rendered basement, features painted ashlar dressings, and has a slate roof with a gable stack. There are ground floor and first-floor sill bands, along with a slab-coped parapet. The windows are topped with brick flat arches and include a three-storey, three-window range of 15-pane sashes, which have late 20th-century imitation wrought-iron balconies. Above these are three 9-pane sashes, and at the top, there is a low-pitched gabled dormer with a 2-light glazing bar casement.
On the ground floor, to the left, there is a wooden doorcase that features Doric three-quarter columns, a dentillated cornice, and a pediment. The round-arched doorway has steps leading up to a renewed six-panel door with a fanlight. Below this, there is a segment-headed panelled door that leads to the basement.
