Description
No. 5 Parliament Street is a house that has been converted into offices, built around 1797. It is constructed of brick with painted ashlar dressings and features a slate roof with a single gable stack. The building has ground floor and first-floor sill bands, and a slab-coped parapet. The windows are adorned with brick flat arches. The structure consists of three storeys plus a basement and has a three-window range of 15-pane sash windows with semicircular wrought-iron balconies, along with three 9-pane sashes above.
On the ground floor, to the right, there is a wooden doorcase featuring Ionic three-quarter columns, a dentillated cornice, and a pediment. This is complemented by a round arched panelled opening that leads up to a 20th-century glazed door. To the left of the doorcase, there are two 12-pane sashes, and below them is a segment-headed basement opening with double board doors.
