Description
Parliament House is a house that has been converted into offices, built around 1797. The building is constructed of brick with painted ashlar dressings and features a slate roof with a gable stack. It has a plinth, ground floor, and first-floor sill bands, along with a slab-coped parapet. The structure consists of three storeys plus a basement and has a three-window range. The central window is a two-light window, flanked by single pane lights, while the upper level features three plain sash windows, all of which have brick flat arches.
On the ground floor, to the right, there is an altered wooden doorcase with Doric three-quarter columns and a renewed entablature that includes a cornice and a central tablet. This is complemented by a round arched doorway that leads to fielded panelled double doors. To the left, there are two heightened plain sash windows with tilting toplights. Additionally, there is a segment-headed board door that provides access to the basement. The building has undergone some changes, particularly in the late 20th century regarding its fenestration.
