Description
No. 17 Parliament Street is a house, now used as offices, built around 1797, with mid-19th century glazing. The building is constructed of brick with painted ashlar dressings and features a slate roof with a gable stack. It has a plinth, ground floor, and first-floor sill bands, along with a slab-coped parapet. The windows are topped with brick flat arches. The structure is three storeys tall, plus a basement, and has a three-window range of plain sashes, with the second-floor windows being smaller.
On the ground floor, to the left, there is a wooden doorcase featuring Doric three-quarter columns, a dentillated cornice, and a pediment. Steps lead up to a fielded six-panel door. To the right of the door, there are two plain sashes. Below, in the basement, there is a central two-light window with sidelights, a single light window to its left, and a wooden cross casement to its right.
