Description
No. 16 Parliament Street is a house that has been converted into a store. It was built around 1797 and refronted around 1845. The building is finished in stucco, and while the roof is not visible, it features a single ridge stack. The design includes a rusticated basement, ground floor, and first-floor sill bands, along with moulded and dentillated eaves. The structure stands three storeys tall, plus a basement, and has a six-window range of plain sashes with eared and shouldered architraves. Above these, there are six 9-pane sashes with moulded architraves and corbelled sills.
The entrance is marked by an off-centre stucco doorcase that is flanked by square Corinthian columns and topped with an entablature and pediment. The door itself is a fielded six-panel design with an overlight. To the left of the entrance, there are three plain sashes, and to the right, two similar sashes, all featuring moulded architraves and keystones. The basement includes a single door on the left and a double door on the right, both of 20th-century origin.
