Description

Number 74 is a house that has been converted into a shop, with attached railings and a gate. It was built around 1820, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. The building is finished in painted stucco, featuring a rusticated basement and a slate roof with a gable stack. It stands three storeys high plus a basement, with a two-window range of plain sash windows, and two smaller plain sashes above. All the windows have moulded surrounds. The ground floor includes two similar windows and, to the right, a mid-19th century wooden doorcase with moulded pilasters and ornate brackets supporting a pedimented cornice. There is a 20th-century half-glazed door with an overlight. The basement features a three-light cross casement window with toplights. Outside, there are stone steps leading down to the basement, which are complemented by a mid-19th century cast-iron openwork balustrade, along with matching area railings and a gate.
