Description

This house, now used as a salon and shop, dates from around 1820, with alterations made in the mid-19th century, late 19th century, and late 20th century. It is constructed of painted brick with a stucco basement, and has a concrete tile roof with a coped gable and a single gable stack. A sill band runs along the first floor. The building is three storeys high plus a basement, and features a four-window front. The upper floors have plain sash windows, all with painted brick flat arches. The upper windows are smaller than those on the first floor. A late 19th-century shop window with an arched central glazing bar and leaded toplights occupies the ground floor to the left of a 20th-century glazed door, which has a flat hood supported by scroll brackets and an overlight above. The basement has two segment-headed windows, the left one being larger. Outside, stone steps are flanked by late 19th-century wrought-iron balustrades, and a matching area railing runs alongside the front of the property.
