Description

86 and 88 George Street are two houses that have been converted into a disused shop. They were built around 1820 and have undergone alterations in the mid and late 19th century, as well as in the 20th century. The buildings are constructed of brick with painted ashlar dressings and feature a pantile roof with a coped gable and a single gable stack. There is a first-floor sill band, along with a wooden gutter supported by brackets. The structure has three storeys and a two-window range of plain sashes with keystone lintels. Above these, there are two smaller plain sashes with rusticated lintels. The ground floor has a late 19th-century wooden shop front that includes pilasters and pedimented curved brackets supporting the fascia cornice. There is a door to the left and a shop window to the right, both with overlights. At the time of the survey, the building was covered by hoarding.
