Description
12 and 13 Steep Hill are two houses that have been converted into a shop. They were built in the early 18th century, with some alterations made in the early 19th and 20th centuries. The buildings are constructed of brick, featuring a mainly stucco front and a plain tile roof with a gable stack. There is a wooden gutter supported by brackets. Number 12 has bands at the first and second floors. The structure is two to three storeys tall, plus attics, and consists of three bays.
On the left side, there is an early 19th-century shop window with a cornice, next to a recessed four-panel door. Above this door is a glazing bar sash window from the 18th century, and above that, there is a two-light casement window. On the right side, there is a pilastered wooden shopfront from the 19th century, which includes a recessed glazed door. Beyond this, a round-headed doorway has been converted into a window. Above, there are two glazing bar sash windows, with the one on the right being smaller. At the top, there are two dormers, one with a casement window and the other with a sliding sash window. The interior has not been inspected.
