Description

17 and 18 Steep Hill is a house that now serves as both a residence and a shop. It dates from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of brick, which has been whitewashed and partly rendered, topped with a pantile roof. There is a first-floor band, and the structure is two storeys high with three bays.

The full-width wooden shopfront, dating from the 19th century, features a corniced fascia. On the left side, there is a glazing bar shop window and a 20th-century doorway with a half-glazed door, flanked by single shop windows. Above the shopfront, there are three sliding sash windows, with the leftmost window lacking glazing bars. The interior has been refitted, and the roof was renewed in the late 20th century.
