Description
This is a late 18th-century shop with a dwelling above, located on the west side of Howden Market Place. The building is constructed of stucco and has a slate roof. It is three storeys high and two bays wide. The corners above the ground floor feature rusticated quoins. The shop fronts have been altered in the 20th century; the left side (No. 32) has a recessed half-glazed door beneath a divided overlight, while the right side (No. 32A) has a recessed six-fielded-panel door beneath a blocked overlight. The first floor has 16-pane sash windows, and the second floor has 20th-century fixed windows. A cyma recta cornice runs along the top of the building, and there are banded end stacks. The interior remains uninspected. The building is included on the list for its group value.
