Description
Michelle's is a house that now functions as a house and shop, located on the west side of Howden Market Place. It dates from the mid to late 18th century and features a later 19th-century shop front along with 19th and 20th-century alterations. The building has three storeys and three bays. The late 19th to early 20th-century shop front includes a 20th-century replacement entrance and windows, all set within a surround that has carved consoles, dosserets, a plain frieze, a cornice, and a hood. On the first floor, there are plate-glass sash windows with sills beneath keyed cambered arches, and a band runs across the second floor. The second floor features centrally pivoted 20th-century windows with arches similar to those on the first floor. The building is topped with a modillion wooden eaves board, and there is gable coping and a shaped kneeler on the left side.
