Description

Nethbrook House is a house, now a shop, dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of brick, some with blue detailing, with rendered dressings and an old plain tile roof. The building is two storeys and an attic, featuring a double pile design with five bays, and on one end a 19th-century bay. The front of the house has a low plinth and is dominated by a central glazed front door set within a rendered Doric doorcase, which incorporates pilasters, an entablature, and a pediment. Large, slightly bowed, three-light shop windows with small panes are located on each side of the entrance. Full-height pilasters run along the front of the house, carrying a cornice up to the parapet. On the first floor are five 19th-century four-pane sash windows, set within a rendered architrave with key blocks. A modillioned cornice juts forward above the pilasters. The parapet is made up of five blue brick panels and raised brick tops of the pilasters. A Palladian window is located in a dormer in the centre of the roof. Gable walls and an end stack are also present. A two-storey blank bay is situated to the right-hand side. The interior of the house features mainly 19th-century details.
