Description

This is a shop with living accommodation above, likely built around 1780, with a shop front dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. It occupies a corner site on New Bridge Street, between New Bridge Street and West Street, and is approximately square in plan, featuring a canted corner facing north. The exterior is stuccoed and painted, with the roof hidden behind a parapet. The building is three storeys high and has an asymmetrical three-bay front. A deep, moulded cornice runs below the parapet. Pilasters with sunk mouldings divide the two right-hand bays. The shop front in the second and third bays features plate glass windows and a half-glazed door with a low panel. A 16-pane sash window is located centrally and to the right, while the left-hand bay has a 20th-century door and three over six-pane horned sash windows. The interior ground floor has been partially inspected and altered for shop use, but a two-panel door remains. New Bridge Street itself dates to 1779. The interior has not been inspected, but may retain features of interest. Rooms are heated by an end stack.
