Description

No. 7 Rock Lane East is a house built around 1840, featuring an ashlar façade and a Welsh slate roof. Designed in a Neo-classical style, it stands two storeys tall with a symmetrical three-window layout and a central entrance. The entrance is marked by paired fielded panelled doors flanked by sidelights, all set within a portico supported by paired Doric columns. On either side of the entrance are round-arched sash windows, which have stressed voussoirs and sculpted keyblocks. The upper windows are six-pane sashes with margin lights, framed by shouldered and pedimented enriched architraves. The house is adorned with a scroll-work frieze, a cornice, and a parapet. There are side wall stacks, and an external staircase has been added against the right-hand return wall. At the front, there is a pair of gate piers leading to the street, featuring round-arched shafts with recessed panels topped by ball finials.
