Description

Number 12 is a house located in Rock Ferry, built around 1840. It is designed in the Gothick style and features stucco exterior with a Welsh slate roof. The house is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-bay facade, with a central narrow gable that slightly projects forward and is adorned with fretted bargeboards. The entrance consists of a part-glazed door with traceried panels and an overlight, topped by a heavy hood mould. On either side of the door, there are flanking windows on both floors, which are 12-pane sash windows also featuring hood moulds. Above the door, there are French doors leading to a renewed balcony. The building is accented by full-height angle pilasters and has a continuous sill band at the first floor level. The gables have fretted bargeboards with pendants and include a steeply arched window at the apex, with sash and blank windows below. At the street, there are octagonal gate piers that have traceried panels and stepped pyramidal caps, complemented by a low wall surrounding the front garden.
