Pair of houses. c1836. Ashlar-faced with rusticated quoins and Welsh slate hipped roof. 2 storeys with basement. Symmetrically-planned, each with side entrance and double-pile 2-unit plan. Enriched classical style. Projecting single-storey porches each side with panelled doors and architrave with console brackets and parapet. Front: 4-window range (originally symmetrical). Lower windows are round arched sashes (renewed and replaced by bow window in No.2) in stressed architraves. Renewed spear head railings to basement. Upper windows are 8-pane sashes also renewed in shouldered architraves with key stone and entablature over. Stone carved frieze at eaves level, gable and axial stacks. River frontage to east enriched with decorative stone-work: 8-pane sash windows with segmental pediments carried on brackets are flanked by blind niches to suggest Venetian tripartite windows in upper storey. Tripartite sashes with key-blocks and stone balconies to first floor (replaced in No.2). Similar tripartite windows to ground floor. Gate piers on street elevation, square piers with moulded caps (one missing). The houses form part of the Rock Park development which was laid out in 1836-7 by Jonathan Bennison.
