Description

The Roft is a house built around 1840, located on Rock Lane East in Rock Ferry, Birkenhead. The building is constructed of stucco and features a Welsh slate roof. It has two storeys and a symmetrical three-window layout with a central entrance. A large timbered gabled porch was added around 1900, which includes a cambered collar and trefoil panelling. The entrance door is panelled and part-glazed, featuring leaded stained glass panels. The windows on either side of the door are renewed two-light mullioned and transomed windows, which have entablatures supported by console brackets. The upper storey is divided into bays by pilasters and has 12-pane sash windows set in moulded architraves. The overhanging eaves create open pediments for each return gable, and there are paired gable end stacks.
