Description
This house at 307 Old Chester Road in Birkenhead dates from around 1840 to 1850. It is constructed of stucco and features a Welsh slate roof. The building has two storeys and a main block with two rooms on either side of a central entrance, along with an additional unit to the right, which is likely original as well. The central entrance is topped with a gable that suggests a pediment. The door is set in a lattice work porch that has scallops and a finial, which connects to a continuous verandah roof that extends across the squared bay windows on either side. Above, there is a three-window range with two-light casements that are divided horizontally. The house has gable end stacks, and to the right, there is a further flat-roofed bay that features a window with a drop-ended hood mould on the ground floor.
