Description
The Royal Mersey Yacht Club, located on Bedford Road in Rock Ferry, is a yacht club that was originally built as a pair of houses around 1840. The building is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. It stands two stories high and has a six-window range, with advanced outer gables and side entrances. The windows are 12-pane sash types set within stone architraves that have hood moulds, and there are tripartite windows in each gable. The gables are topped with stepped stone copings and moulded kneelers, and there is a plain eaves cornice. The building has axial stacks with diagonal shafts. It is reputed to be home to the earliest yacht club foundation in Britain.
