Description

St Margarets is a house that has been converted into a convent, and it was possibly originally built as two dwellings around 1840. The building features an ashlar facade that is rusticated at the ground floor, topped with a Welsh slate roof. It is designed in a plain neo-classical style and consists of two storeys with a six-bay elevation facing north. There are two doorways; one has a plain architrave with a blind fielded stone panel above and a balustraded panel below the upper window, while the other doorway appears to have been added later and features a late 20th-century timber porch with a pediment. The windows have been renewed but remain in their original openings. The first-floor windows are recessed between shallow pilasters and have small sunken panels above them. The principal elevation faces west and includes a pedimented center and bay windows in the outer gables.
