Description
This is a pair of houses located at 40 and 41 Rock Park in Birkenhead, built around 1840. The houses are rendered and feature a hipped roof made of Welsh slate and concrete tiles. They are two stories tall, each with a symmetrical design that includes a two-window range and a double-pile plan, highlighted by paired central gables that house the entrances. Each house has a five-panelled door topped with an entablature supported by brackets, and a rectangular overlight above the door. The ground floor features wood transomed windows in the outer bays, while the upper floors have three-pane sash windows. In house number 41, these upper windows have been replaced with early 20th-century windows that include stained glass leaded upper panes. The eaves are plain and overhanging, and there are end wall stacks.
