Description
This is a pair of houses located at 2 and 3 Cavendish Road in Birkenhead, built around 1845, possibly designed by Walter Scott. The houses are constructed from coursed and squared rubble and feature a Welsh slate roof. They exhibit a simple Tudor style and are loosely symmetrical. Each house has two storeys with an attic and a two-unit double-depth plan, including storeyed porches at each end that have 4-centred arched doorways. The park elevation showcases outer advanced gables with canted bays, tripartite ground-floor sash windows in the central bays, and a cast-iron balcony in front of the upper 12-pane sash windows. The roof includes two high gabled dormers, and there are gable and axial stacks with octagonal shafts.
