Description
A pair of houses built around 1850 in Birkenhead. The houses are roughcast render, with a Welsh slate hipped roof. Each house has two storeys and a symmetrical design, with a two-unit plan and an entrance at each end. Each has an outer canted bay window, and an inner 12-pane sash window within a moulded architrave. The upper windows are also 12-pane sashes, set within plain architraves, with a sill band running along the front. Decorative brackets support the moulded eaves cornice. The corners have angle quoins. Chimneys rise from the gables and the central axis. The pair of houses forms a group with numbers 9-11 and 13-15 Alton Road, and these groups were likely built together as part of a speculative development.
